The Society of St. Vincent de Paul claims it is the largest thrift store in Los Angeles, which certainly seems true. Upon entering, it feels like an indoor swap meets market. The store offers a great variety of items for purchase, ranging from washing machines to automobiles and from large house furnishings to kitchenware and small appliances. While I found the prices fair, they were too high for my budget. Nonetheless, there is something at this thrift store for everyone. I plan to return when I have more time and money to explore further.

The HOLY GRAIL of Thrift Stores! Go early and avoid the weekends. Every hipster in LA goes there. You will see more hits than misses. However, resellers come early to take the good stuff and charge double. My husband and I scored these 2 vintage chairs from 1974 for $79 during a flash sale.

I came to this thrift store a couple of times and I will never be coming back. The last time I was there I found this blouse that had no tag, when I got to the cashier I was told they couldn’t sell it to me, I was with my mom so my mom asked another employee to price it and this man ( the employee ) was really nice and took it to the back and came back with the blouse priced. But today I went and I found some jeans that I really liked and had two price tags tugged in the pocket. So when I got the cashier she said she couldn’t sell it to me because she didn’t know which tag was the accurate one. Both tags had the same price 12.99, I told her they are the same price, then she said oh but I won’t be able to sell it to you because it doesn’t have the tag attached. I asked her if she can have somebody price it and she said no she couldn’t do that. I told her they had previously priced another item before. She said no that they were just going to send the jeans back to get it priced but she couldn’t sell it to me. So I just walked out didn’t buy anything at all. This is a thrift store, were they get everything donated for free, it’s ridiculous that they couldn’t priced one item for a customer. It’s not like they losing any money for the jeans because they got them for free. If that’s their policy it’s a ridiculous policy. Plus I tried to donated some clothes and other stuff and I was told that they are only accepting clothes nothing else because they are so full of stuff in the back and the employee also said a lot of stuff that the people donate they just throw it away in the trash because they are so full. I will never come and buy or donate here ever again.

I used to love coming here for the amount of items and things to look through. It was a GIANT thrift store, but now the prices have gotten out of hand. They are selling used items for the same as if you bought them new. I’m now officially DONE shopping here. It’s a shame, because it’s only a matter of time before others start to realize the same. I’ve included photos to show what I’m talking about.

The prices have gone up. Guess the rents gone up too.
Though, I do believe st. Vincent de Paul thrift store has better morals than that of Goodwill.

Called to donate a sectional couch, two night stands, beach chairs, and clothes. Told the lady it was a sectional that had 3 sections. She said that was fine. She asked for my address and I told her we lived in a gated apartment and she decided where the truck would park. We live in a townhouse so we had to bring the stuff downstairs because they won't go up more than 3 stairs. So I walked to let them in the gate and the two men did nothing but complain about how far they had to walk to get to my apartment. Then after we got the couch out they did nothing but complain about how big it was and my husband did most of the lifting because they just stood there. My gosh please hired real men with a gracious heart that your donating to the company they work for. And do your own work instead of complaining the whole time.

Well those day are long gone, I cannot get behind these prices. Lamps are $75 and clothes are at new prices. Look, I know inflation is going up, but everything is donated and I thought Saint Vincent was there to help those who can’t afford first hand goods. I guess just like the Catholic Church, Saint Vincent de Paul is just as greedy.

Came here specifically looking for a china hutch because it looked like they had a huge furniture selection but left empty handed after being SHOCKED by the prices! Tables missing leaves for $350, sofas with broken arms for $600 and china cabinets with visible plywood shelves for $300?! I've never left a thrift store thinking "I'll just go buy it new somewhere else instead." The only reasonably priced items were the books for like $2-$3 each.
